Mark Bradley Stephens, age 58, of the Bethel Community in Columbus County died Friday, December 16, 2016 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.
He was born August 31, 1958, the son and only child of Malcolm Stephens and the late Lucille Long Stephens Blackwell. In addition to his mother, he is also preceded in death by maternal grandparents, John and Mae Long of the Bethel Community, Parental grandparents, Carl and Edna Stephens of the Claredon Community.
Mark proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as an E-3 Fireman. He was a NASCAR fan, loved watching wrestling and movies on TV. He operated as a Flea Market Merchant for several years before becoming too ill, he later endured seven years of kidney dialysis treatments until his passing. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Left to cherish Mark's memory are Sherri W. Stephens and their devoted son and only child, Travis Stephens of the home; father, Malcolm Stephens; faithful canine companion, Candy; and those with whom he had special relationships, Aunt Gayle, Aunt Nell, Aunt Monnie, Uncle Delmas and Uncle David.
The family would like to thank Mark's special and helpful friend, Corbitt.
A private family graveside was held 3:00 PM Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the Bethel Cemetery on the family farm where Mark spent much of his life.
