Marshall Merrel Wells

Marshall Merrel Wells, age 74, died Monday, December 28, 2009, at his home.

Born February 4, 1935, in Pender County he was the son of the late Charlie Wright and Nettie Louise Whitehead Wells. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Humphrey Lee Wells and James Lloyd "Buck" Wells and sister, Eleanor Lanier.

Mr. Wells served in his country honorably in the US Army.

With his friendly personality he never met a stranger and always looked forward to visiting with and entertaining friends as they sat in the swing under the old tree in his yard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and the time he spent with his animals especially his dogs, Rusty and Frisky.

Surviving are his loving family: his sisters, Hildreth Gallagher of Willard, Nettie Daub and husband, Will of Wallace and Joyce Arnett and husband, Alfred of Atkinson and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening immediately following the funeral service until 9:00 p.m. at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home.

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Riverview Memorial Park in Watha.
