Martha Doris Brandt, resident of Leland, NC passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, October 29, 2021. She was 83 years old.

Martha was born on October 7, 1938 to Uljas J. Mattila and Rauha (Jaaskolainen) in Fitchburg, MA. She married Henry W. Brandt on June 16, 1959 in Nashua, NH.

Martha enjoyed travels with Henry and their 4 children. They lived in many places during Henry's career in the nuclear industry. She also enjoyed working in the medical records department at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA and in a daycare center in California. Her lifelong interests included visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Ross and Emma, gardening, knitting, sewing, playing pinochle and adopting dogs in need of a home.

Martha is survived by her loving husband, Henry; their children, Willie Brandt, Lisa Brandt, and Diane Watson; grandchildren, Faith Castagner, Kelly Bridges, Ashley Watson, Helmi Breda Pessetti, Aili Breda, Kai Crum, and Samuel Plaisance.

Martha is predeceased by her parents; her sister, Terttu (Aili) Mattila; daughter, Donna Bridges; and granddaughter, Danielle Marie Welch.
