Obituary

Lloyd "Marty" Ray Batts, 71, of Willard passed from this life to his new home in heaven on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

He was born on November 28, 1953 in New Hanover County, the son of the late Winfred and Ernestine Williams Batts.  Marty was also preceded in death by his brother Allen Batts and sister Peggy Batts Davis.

Marty attended Penile PFWB Church when his health permitted.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his devoted wife and caregiver Linda Padgett Batts; his children Anthony Glenn Murray and wife Debbie of Wallace, Gail Batson of Watha and Courtney Murray of Wallace; grandchildren, Scott Murray, Channing Michael, Cole Zimmerman, Lauren Zimmerman, Morgan Mullins, Alex Murray and Chance Murray; seven great grandchilren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many, many friends who loved Marty dearly.

Marty was a loving husband and caring father, grandfather and brother.  He had a big heart and was always willing to do anything he could for others.  Marty's greatest joy in life was Linda and their children and grandchildren,   He also enjoyed wrestling, his furry feline friends, Harley Davidson and playing games on his tablet.  With his witty personality, Marty never met a stranger.  He loved people and was loved  in return.  Marty willl surely be missed but he will never be forgotten.

There will be a celebration of life at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2025 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with Pastor Dewy Ball officiating.
