Marvin Walter Blanton, 80, of Wilmington passed gently from his earthly life on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at NorthChase Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born October 4, 1934 in Pender County, the son of the late Ernest Taylor and Lacy Rivenbark Blanton. Marvin is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Hardin and brother, Roy Blanton.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Raddie Henderson Blanton; sons, Waydus Lynn Blanton (Ginger) and Edward Earl Blanton; daughters, Clarice Ann Blanton and Rosa Zurcher (Shelton); many grandchildren which include Travis Blanton, Todd Blanton, Reece Blanton, James Cassell and Shawn Blanton; many great grandchildren which include Travis Blanton, Jr. and McKenzie Blanton; brothers, Quinn "Steve" Warren Blanton, Wayne Blanton and Carson Blanton; sisters, Rachel Croom and Faye Rivenbark; many extended family and friends.

Marvin spent many years as an installer in the heating and air conditioning business.

He was a devoted husband and loving daddy, granddaddy, brother, brother-in-law and friend who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Loving God's nature and the outdoors, Marvin enjoyed deer hunting. Above all family was most important in Marvin's life. Cherished memories of his sunny smile, gentle laughter and steadfast faith will always be remembered.

Graveside funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Henderson Cemetery, NC Hwy 50, Wallace with Reverend Roland Penny officiating.
