Obituary

Marvin Henderson, age 87, of Oroville, California and formerly of the Wallace-Pin Hook area died Monday, March 10, 2014 at his residence.

He was born on April 11, 1926 in Duplin County and was the son of the late Liston and Rothie Pierce Henderson. He was also predeceased by his wife, Lorraine Henderson; his sons, Mark Henderson and Gary "Nick" Gilmore and his daughter, Gail Rogers.

Mr. Henderson proudly served in the United States Navy for 22 years during WWII, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Oroville.

Surviving to cherish his memories is his son, Marvin Frank Henderson and wife, Joan of Washington; daughter, Linda K. Elledge and husband, Daniel of Oroville, California; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren; sisters, Magelina James, Lois Benton, Sadie Sparks and Bertha Elston; Uncle Russell Pierce and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Marvin was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a simple man who was loved and respected by all who knew him. With a kind heart, Marvin was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who are in need. His warmth and loving spirit greatly impressed everyone he met. Marvin was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at The Church at Pin Hook with the Reverend Buster Price officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 3:00pm on Sunday, one hour prior the funeral service at the church.

Committal service with military rites will follow the funeral service at Henderson Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Douglas Bond, Charles Brown, Eddie Henderson, Ronnie Sholar, Woody Sholar and Marvin Frank Henderson.

Funeral service: 3:00pm on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at The Church at Pin Hook

Visitation: 2:00pm to 3:00pm on Sunday, one hour prior the funeral service at the church.

Burial: Henderson Cemetery, immediately following the funeral service.
