Marvin DeWayne "Wayne" Rackley, 68, of Rose Hill passed away Monday, March 23, 2015 at his residence.
He was born January 23, 1947 in New Hanover County and was the son of the late John William and Verdie Bernice Rackley.
Wayne was employed with Murphy Family Ventures for 25 years where he was a heavy equipment operator.
Surviving is his devoted daughter, Crystal Turner and husband, Robby of Burgaw; granddaughter, Robin Turner of Burgaw; brother, Horace Rackley and wife, Christine of Teachey; sister, Hilda Rae Wells of Rose Hill and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wayne, as he was affectionately known, was a loving father, grandfather and brother. His passion was rabbit hunting and raising horses. He loved the beauty of nature, the call of the forest and the sound of his beagles barking and running as he spent many treasured hours rabbit hunting. An avid horseman, Wayne enjoyed raising horses and trail riding in the mountains. He will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved Wayne.
Funeral service will be at 6:00pm on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Reverend Jack Melvin officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
