Mary Watson
Boyd
July 29, 1958 – January 24, 2024
Mary Watson Boyd, 65, of Scotts Hill beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, and friend passed gently from her earthly life Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 29, 1958 in Wilmington, the daughter of Gail Russ Johnston and the late Walter McDonald Watson. Mary was raised by her stepfather, William "Billy" L. Johnston, who is now deceased.
In addition to her mother Mary is survived by her husband of 41 years, Tim Boyd; sons, Daniel Reaves and Kevin Boyd (Allie Lance); daughter, Stephanie Lanier (Dariean); grandchildren, Eli Boyd, Hunter Lanier, Layla Lanier, Leah Balowski, Veronica Sprinkle, and Kaylea Rackley-Reaves; sisters, Patricia Cottle, Donna Zoglman (Dave), and Susan Aiken (Scott); many nieces, nephews and friends, all who loved Mary.
Mary graduated from Pender High School. Many children have fond memories of Mary driving their school bus in eastern Pender County in the Topsail area.
Mary enjoyed being outdoors in God's wonderful world of nature – boating and fishing being at the top of her list fun things to do. She was a true Southern cook. Everything she cooked was delicious, especially fried and bar-b-que chicken as well as made from scratch shrimp egg rolls. Christmas at Mary's home was decorations plus and such a gala, happy time. Most of all Mary loved and served her family. She was truly loved and will be greatly missed by all.
