Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Canty was a Christian woman and a true soldier for God. The sun rose as Mary was born on June 12, 1960 in Wilmington born to Willie Lee and Lena Singleton Harper.

One of her favorite scriptures was about giving praise to God, she would always articulate as loud as her little body would allow her, "I will bless the Lord at all times, and his praise shall continually be in my mouth."

On December 18, 2016 at approximately 10:14 a.m. at New Hanover County Regional Medical Center Mary went home to be with the Lord, but before the sunset on her Earthly life she was going forward giving one last earthly praise to the Lord. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her loving husband of 34 years, Darryl Canty and adoring daughters Tamara, Twana, Tandra and Tanita.

She fought the good fight, she kept the faith and she finished her race.
