Mary Evelyn Brown Wells, 85, of Rose Hill entered into eternal rest November 25, 2015 at Elizabethtown Health and Rehab in Elizabethtown, NC.
She was born on March 14, 1930 in Duplin County and was the daughter of the late Dennis Andrew and Marie Bradshaw Brown. She was also predeceased by her husband of 53 years, William Stokes Wells, Jr.
Mrs. Wells was a faithful life long member of Rose Hill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her devoted children, Dawn Wells Cottle (Ronald Wade) of Elizabethtown, William "Bill" Stokes Wells, III, (Stephanie) of Raleigh and Andrew "Andy" J. Wells (Missy), of Rose Hill; grandchildren, Caroline Cottle Hill (Matthew), Meredith Cottle Foster (Zack), Allison Cottle, William Stokes Wells, IV, Lilly Wells and Wake Wells; sister, Linda Brown Plummer (Robert) of Madison and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary Evelyn was a loving mother and caring grandmother, sister and friend. She was a woman of uncommon character, beauty and grace, an instrument of God's love on this earth. Being a friend to all, Mary Evelyn was a strong yet gentle and loving presence to all who were blessed to know her. She looked for and encouraged the best in everyone that she knew; and was a shoulder upon whom many found comfort and solace. Mary Evelyn will surely be missed but cherished memories will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Rose Hill Baptist Church with the Reverend Michael Maragelis officiating. Burial will follow in Wells Family Cemetery, Rose Hill.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Saturday evening at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Wallace and other times at the home of Mrs. Wells.
