Mary Fayette "Faye" Meders, age 79, of Rocky Point and formerly of Tifton, Georgia passed gently from her earthly life Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born October 19, 1943 in Tift County, Georgia, the daughter of Lester William Newbern and Mona Florette Jones Newbern. In addition to her parents Faye was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Fletcher Meders and sister, Gail Gray.

Faye is survived by her children, Jimmy F. Meders, Stacey L. Meders (Alison), Laurie M. Roder (Chuck), and Leigh M. Pittman (Tony); grandchildren, Jimmy F. Meders II, Trinity Cunard, Christopher Meders, Nicky Meders, Brody Meders, Garrett Meders, Carson Roder and Caroline Roder; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Elaine O'Neal (Brantley) and Betty Sullivan; many nieces, nephews and friends all who dearly loved Mary.

For many years Faye worked and was a familiar face at Walmart in Wilmington.

Faye was a giving, sharing, compassionate lady who loved and served her family unconditionally. She was uplifting and a pleasure to be around. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought great joy into her life. In her younger years Faye dabbled in many things – sewing clothes for her kids, picture painting, special event cake baking, and was an avid Barbie collector. Her true passions were reading, traveling and taking cruises. Faye was greatly loved and will be truly missed by family and her good friends.

The family received friends 2 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September, 3, 2023 at Atkinson Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

Internment will be in Omega Cemetery in Omega, GA with Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals in Tifton, GA assisting the family in Georgia.
