Mary Frances Hamilton, 88, of Raleigh and formerly of Atkinson died Sunday, December 21, 2008 at Rex Hospital.

Mrs. Hamilton was born November 19, 1920 in Lowell, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Whitelaw Phillips.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Harry Marsh Hamilton, Sr. of the home; son, Harry Marsh Hamilton, Jr. of Raleigh; daughter, Margaret H. Williams (Paul) of Charlotte; granddaughters, Katie and Maggie Williams; and her twin sister, Margaret Ratchford of Charlotte.

Mrs. Hamilton was a member of Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh.

Mary was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was a true Southern lady filled with grace, kindness and thoughtfulness of others. Her beautiful smile, warm heart and gentle spirit will always be remembered fondly.

The family will receive friends 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, one hour prior to the funeral service.

Funeral service will be at 12 noon on Tuesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Robert Fields officiating.

Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.

Casketbearers will be James Blanton, Lawrence Blanton, Paul Williams, Ken Nixon, Kent Nixon and Fred Ratchford.
