Obituary

Mary Johnson Kane, 90, of Rocky Point was granted her angel wings on Monday evening, May 6, 2013. The Gates of Heaven surely opened wide for this newest angel as she was greeted by her husband, Charles E. Kane and her parents, Henry Lee and Lillian Wheeler Johnson. Mary was born December 25, 1922 in Pender County.

Mary is survived by her sons, Erwin L Kane (Loretta) and Randy C. Kane (Laurrie) all of Rocky Point; grandsons, Korey L. Kane (Heather) and Christopher L Kane; great grandchildren, Kameron, Ian and Kelsie Grace Kane; sisters, Alene Todd and Beaula Murray; brother, Sam Johnson (Kitty); many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Mary was a faithful Christian and member of Riley's Creek Baptist Church. She loved her family, her Lord and her church family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of her life. They have the fondest of memories of sneaking over to Granny's house for her delicious peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (especially when they did not like what was served at their home). Enjoying gardening, Mary was Loretta's "right hand man" when garden time rolled around each year. Sitting on her porch watching all the "goings on" in their close knit neighborhood was a favorite pastime for Mary. Mary lived a long and fulfilled life, leaving behind so many good and happy memories.
