Mary Lou (Johnson) Scofield, 86, of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away on August 2, 2026, at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

She was born July 27, 1940, in Goldsboro, North Carolina, to the late Joe E. Johnson and the late Annie McCandless Johnson.

Mary Lou is survived by her beloved husband, Earl Edward Scofield, Jr.; her son, Earl Edward Scofield III; Rosemary Louise Scofield; her grandchildren, Chloey Babson, Ava Babson; and her beloved cats, Pasha and Panda.

In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was also preceded in death by her sisters, JoAnne Dunn, Sara Rhodes; and her brother, George Johnson.

All services will be held privately.
