Mary Pridgen Moore, 77, of Rocky Point and Rocky Mount passed peacefully from her earthly life to her heavenly home on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at her home in Rocky Mount.
She was born March 9, 1935 in Wilmington and was the daughter of the late Ranford G. and Mary Annie Wood Wells. Also remembered are her husband, Edward Ray Pridgen who died in 1982; brothers, Larry and Dennis and sisters, Dollie and Elizabeth, all who preceded Mary in death.
Mary is survived by her husband, Robert Moore; daughters, Rhonda Gurganus of Rocky Point, Kimberly Smith of Walkertown, and Suzanne Jones (Carl) of Rocky Point; grandchildren, Melissa Edwards (Willie) of Rocky Point, Ashley Maiville (Justin) of Texas, Gregory Smith (Mandy) of Wilmington, Megan Stone (Dennis) of High Point, and Samantha Smith (Jonathan) of Walkertown; and great grandchildren, Hailey Grace, Lulu, Kaitlynn, Connor, Ray, Lilliana, Abigail and Annie.
Mary was an active and faithful member of Southside Baptist Church in Rocky Mount.
Mary shared a love with her family that was truly amazing to witness. She was the BEST wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend any one could ask for. Mary was a woman of uncommon character, beauty and grace who lived among us on this earth. Her radiant smile, gentle laughter and warm heart are remembered and treasured.
Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. Rob Strickland officiating. Private family burial will be at Pridgen Family Cemetery. Casketbearers were Greg Smith, Willie Edwards, Justin Maiville, Jon Smith, Dennis Stone and Shannon Wells.
The family will receive friends 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home until hour of the service.
Memorial gifts may be given to Southside Baptist Church Building Fund, 4948 Carter Road, Elm City, NC 27822.
