Mary Elizabeth
Murray
Mar 5, 1950 — Apr 25, 2021
Mary Elizabeth Evans Murray, age 71, of Wallace left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Sunday, April 25, 2021 from New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
She was born on March 5, 1950 in Lenior County, NC, and was the daughter of Nick David and Mary Ellen Brown Evans. Mary was also predeceased by her brother, Clarence Evans; her first husband, George Jackson and her second husband, Howard Lee Murray, Sr.
Mary was a member of Poston Baptist Church where she served in numerous ministries of the church.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her sister-in-law, Annie Ruth Evans of Magnolia; her nieces, Kathy Evans Quinn and husband, J.D. of Magnolia, Carolyn Evans Quinn of Magnolia and Barbara Evans Harris of Beulaville; her nephew, Jimmy Hartley and wife, Sandra of Kenansville; great nephews and great nieces, Ryan Evans Harris of Raleigh, Christina Quinn Atkins and husband, David of Burlington, Adam Hartley of Kenansville and Danielle M. Harris of Wilmington; great-great nephews, Austin Atkins and Brantley Atkins; and numerous extended family and friends that loved Mary dearly.
Mary was a caring aunt and true friend to those who knew her. She loved others and was loved in return. Mary enjoyed gardening, sewing and serving others. With her green thumb, she could grow the prettiest flowers and the best vegetables ever. Mary loved her dogs whom she considered her 'babies' and took great time and care with them. She had a big heart and enjoyed serving others. She served many families at Poston Baptist Church as she helped in the kitchen. Mary loved her Lord, her family - which includes her church family - and her friends. She will surely be missed but treasured memories will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Graveside service will be held at 4:00p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Devotional Gardens in Warsaw with Pastor Chris Jarman officiating.
