MARY JANE NUNALEE

Mary Jane Nunalee, 97, of San Antonio, Texas and formerly of Currie died Thursday, December 6, 2007 in San Antonio, Texas at the home of her daughter.

Born July 26, 1910 in Duplin County, North Carolina, Mary Jane was the daughter of Joseph and Penny Brinkley. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Mary Jane was married to A. D. (Gus) Scott of the Riley's Creek community of Pender County from December 28, 1926 until his death on June 8, 1953. She was married to T. H. (Tommie) Nunalee, Jr. of Currie from December 3, 1955 until his death on February 24, 1999.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Jean Ingram and husband, Blake of San Antonio, Texas; her son, Augustus Donald Scott and wife, Nancy of Williamsburg, Virginia; four stepchildren, Thomas Nunalee, III and wife, Linda, Nolan Nunalee and wife, Frances, James Jay Nunalee and wife, Phyllis, and Sabra Nunalee, all of the Wilmington, N.C. area. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

During her first marriage she lived on Scott Road in the Riley's Creek community of Pender County where she was a member of Riley's Creek Baptist Church. After her marriage to Tommie Nunalee she resided on Bell Williams Road in Currie, NC. She was the oldest living member of Moore's Creek Baptist Church where she had been a faithful member and Sunday School Teacher. Mary Jane enjoyed her church, camping, fishing, traveling and activities with friends. During her latter years Mary Jane spent most of her time visiting with her son in Williamsburg, VA and with her daughter in San Antonio, TX. She remained active in both locations, enjoying time with her grandchildren, traveling and sightseeing.

Visitation will be from ten to eleven a.m. on Thursday, December 13 at Moore's Creek Baptist Church in Currie.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 13, at Moore's Creek Baptist Church by the Reverend Philip Eakins.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Marshall Nunalee, Mark Nunalee, Chris Nunalee, Tommy Nunalee, Neal Newton and Ted Croom.

Honorary Casket bearers will be Ed Mills, Shaby Rowe and Oliver Moore.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Moore's Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, C/O Kaye Nobles, Treasurer, 203 Bowers Lane, Currie, NC 28435.
