Mary Elizabeth Sandlin, 62, of Hampstead passed from her earthly life on Friday, April 25, 2014 at her home. She was born June 22, 1951 in Onslow County, the daughter of the late Joseph Ardell and Mary Muriel Howard Coleman. Also lovingly remembered is her brother, Daniel Coleman who preceded Mary in death.

Mary is survived by her son, Jack Sandlin (Wendy); daughter, Crystal N. Sandlin; grandchildren, Blake Sandlin and Tye Sandlin; sisters, Marlene Powell and Dolores Guthrie; brothers, Arnold Colman, Wesley Coleman (Frances), John Coleman, and Harold Coleman; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary loved her family and was an extra special mother, Nanny, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed everything that came her way in life, but most important was her beloved family. Mary loved all of God's creations especially her in house pet birds. Many will remember Mary as their delightful and helpful waitress as she worked in a number of restaurants in the Hampstead area. Her great sense of humor endeared her to family and friends. Just yesterday, Mary was speaking to her sister about her many blessings in her life. Cherished memories of Mary will forever remain in our hearts.

Funeral service will be 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Blake's Chapel Advent Christian Church with The Rev. Steve Spearing and The Rev. Edward Dowd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church at 3:00 p.m. until hour of the service.
