Maxine G. Miller Phillips, 88, of Castle Hayne was born to Luther L. Guyton and Sadie Rivenbark Guyton on September 6, 1924 in Pender County. Maxine, their youngest and last surviving child, died Monday, February 11, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Miller, father of her children, who died January 23, 1979 and a grandson, Woody Miller. After the death of Joe Miller, Maxine married Paul Allen, Joe Taylor and Jesse Phillips, all who predeceased her.

She leaves her two sons, Calvin Miller (Delane) of Castle Hayne and Billy Miller (Brenda) of Currie; daughter, Maxine Wells (Hal) of Wilmington and grandchildren and their families to cherish her memory; Ricky, Karen and Morgan Miller, Dale, Melissa, Cassidy and Brice Miller, Shannon, Brittany and Brett Watts, Bobby Miller, Joey and Debra Miller, Chris Miller, Gene and Skylar Miller, Gary and Judi Wells, Zachary and Colby Weiner.

She was a faithful Christian and long time member of Wrightsboro Baptist Church where the service will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Mike Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. at the church until hour of the service and other times will be at the home of Calvin and Delane Miller.
