Obituary

Michael Ray English, age 61, of Wallace left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Wednesday, October 12, 2022.

He was born on December 2, 1960 in Duplin County; the only son of the late Homer and Avie Mae Gurganious English.

Michael was a 1979 graduate of Wallace-Rose Hill High School.  After graduating high school, he attended UNC - Chapel Hill where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree.  Michael taught science, chemistry and physics at West Montgomery and Wallace-Rose Hill High Schools.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his aunts, Mildred Gurganious of Wallace and Polly English of Columbia, SC; special friend, Jennifer Parry of Wales, UK; numerous cousins, extended family and special friends from his high school class, college dorm, and high school co-workers that loved Michael dearly.

Michael was a kindhearted and gentle man who enjoyed simple things.  He was very intelligent, especially on the subjects he liked.  Michael loved music of all kinds, playing Trivia on Tuesday nights with classmates and going to the beach. He was very good with technology.  With a big heart, Michael would do anything for anyone without wanting any recognition for it.  He always had this saying, "It will all work out".  His family and friends are grateful that for Michael, 'It has all worked out'.  He is no longer sick or suffering from diabetes.  Michael will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain with those who knew and loved Michael.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Cavenaugh's Cemetery, NC Hwy 41, Wallace, NC with Mr. M.D. Guthrie officiating.
