Obituary

Micheal James Thompson, age 58, of Pender County died Thursday, November 27, 2008 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born March 1, 1950 in New Hanover County and was the son of the late James Guy and Evelyn Allen Thompson. He was predeceased by his twin sisters, Andrea Thompson and Cassie Bowen.

Michael was a member of Farmers Chapel Baptist Church.

Micheal was a devoted husband and loving daddy, granddaddy, brother and friend. His grandchildren were the light of his life and affectionately called him "Papa Fish". Micheal's love of laughter and great personality endeared him to all. He could fix most anything and was always willing to help and share his knowledge with others. Michael enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. His presence brought joy and sunshine into the lives of family and friends. Treasured memories of Micheal will always remain dear to our hearts

Surviving are his loving wife of sixteen years, Debra Matthews Thompson of the home; son, Mickey Thompson of Leland; daughter, Tiffanie Pierce and husband, Ray of Leland; step-daughter, Lesley Etter of Leland; grandchildren, Damen Thompson, Cameron Pierce, Addyson Pierce, and Brynlee Pierce; siblings, Reggie Thompson of Leland, Janis Carroll and husband, Ray of Rockingham, Darlene Rogers of Maco and Randy Thompson and wife, Janie of Maco and many nieces and nephews; special friends, Larry and Joyce Eakins, Eddie Hubbard and David and Tasha Lee.

Graveside funeral service will be 2:00 pm Sunday at Lee-Thompson Cemetery in Watha with the Reverend Wayne Hamilton officiating.

The family will receive friends 4:00 to 6:00 pm Saturday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Burgaw.
