Obituary

Michelle Boryk Oppegaard, 46, our beloved mother, fiancée, sister, and loyal friend left this earth way too soon, leaving an empty place in lives and in our hearts.

Michelle was born in Wilmington on July 25, 1975.  She passed peacefully on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at UNC Hospitals-Chapel Hill after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was predeceased by her parents, Milton Rae "Kip" Oppegaard and Annette Boryk Oppegaard.

Left to cherish wonderful memories of Michelle are her daughter, Anna Amelia Boryk Weaver; son, Eric Michael Weaver; fiancé, Jose Pinheiro; brother, Michael Oppegaard and his wife Susanne; and many of her dear friends.

For many years Michelle worked as a Real Estate broker in the Triangle area of North Carolina. Michelle loved her family beyond measure and was the BEST Mom, fiancé, sister and friend.

Michelle was a true Southern lady who loved her grits and fried chicken. She also loved Topsail Island and her Sound Pier crab soup recipe. She graduated from Saint Mary's College in 1995 and Meredith College in 1997 with her Bachelors in Child Development and a minor in Religion. She was also part of the Debutante class of 1994 with the Raleigh Terpsichorean Society. Michelle loved traveling and was planning a wedding to her fiance, Jose, in his home country of Portugal. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her and was a one in a billion kind of lady.
