Milda Brown Greene, age 77, of Burgaw died Sunday, March 21, 2010 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born January 23, 1933 in Wilmington and was the daughter of Josephine "Jo" Moses Brown of Burgaw and the late Clarence Jason Brown. Also remembered are her husband, Robert "Bob" Greene and a brother, Ashley H. Brown.

Milda had nine children, Renee Greene of St. Charles, Missouri, Robin Greene of Ramsey, Minnesota, Ann Corbett of Atkinson, Jimmy Barnhill of Rocky Point, Sonya Barnhill of Wilmington, Jeff Barnhill of Sumter, South Carolina, James VanOstren II of Miami, Florida, Louis Freshwater and Michael VanOstren both of Florida. In addition to her mother she also survived by twelve grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sister, Connie Raysin of Burgaw; and brother, Clarence "Charlie" Brown, Jr. of Currie.

Milda was a loving and giving lady who loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren. In years past when her health permitted she enjoyed having a garden, growing flowers and cooking. She loved church and gospel music and most of all she was proud of her children. Fond memories of Milda will always remain in our hearts.

Graveside funeral service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Atkinson Cemetery with The Rev. Ottis King officiating.

The family will receive friends 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.
