Mildred Raynor
Boone
May 26, 1926 — Jan 4, 2015
Mildred Raynor Boone, age 88, of Rose Hill left this earthly life for her eternal rest with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 4, 2015.
She was born May 26, 1926 in Rose Hill and was one of seven children of the late Owen Wellington and Minnie Cornelia Robinson Raynor. She was also predeceased by her husband of 71 years, Samuel Thomas Boone, Sr. in 2013; her daughter, Mary Lillian Boone Pate; son-in-law, Ben D. Ellis; sisters, Mary Lee Raynor Hudson, Alberta Moore and Bernice Coombs and brothers, Charlie James Raynor, Luther Marvin Raynor and Graham Wellington Raynor.
Mildred was a student of Rose Hill School and a graduate of James Sprunt Institute of Kenansville. At the age of 12, she gave her heart to the Lord and was baptized by the Reverend J.I. Memory, pastor of Corinth Baptist Church at that time. Mildred loved her Lord and was a dedicated member of Corinth Baptist Church for the last 45 years. During her Christian walk, she served the Lord in many ways such as teaching Sunday School for numerous years. She was employed by Ramsey Feed Company and Watson Seafood & Poultry Company of Rose Hill, where she worked as secretary for 20 years before retiring in 1983.
Surviving is her devoted children, Minnie Lou Boone Ellis, Linda Faye Boone Hobbs and husband, Glenn, all of Clinton, Reverend Samuel "Sammy" Thomas Boone, Jr. and wife, Jeanne of Teachey and William Owen "W.O." Boone, Sr. and fiancée, Deborah of Willard; son-in-law, Robert Charles Pate and wife, Annelle of Smithfield. Mildred was blessed with 13 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mildred was a loving wife and caring mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed the simplest things in life but her great joy was her family. She was a woman of uncommon character, beauty and grace, "an instrument of God's love on this earth." She was a strong, yet gentle woman who loved her Lord, her family and her church. Mildred will surely be missed but cherished memories will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
