Milton Frederick "Freddie" Malpass, Jr., age 66, of Currie died Thursday, November 10, 2011, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Malpass was born August 3, 1945, in Wilmington and was the son of Sadie Lewis Malpass Woodcock of Currie and the late Milton Frederick Malpass Sr. He was also predeceased by an infant son, infant brother and sister, Nancy Malpass.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his of 44 years wife, Shirley Faircloth Malpass of the home; daughter, Joylynn Craft and husband, Buddy of Currie; son, Milton Lee "Bobo" Malpass and wife, Angel of Currie; grandchildren, Crystal Stull and husband, Clinton, Harlie T. Malpass and Milton F. Malpass III; brother, Billy Malpass and wife, Sandra of Currie; sister, Gail Brown and husband, Ron of Atkinson and Alene Eaton and husband, Marvin of Currie and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He served his country honorably in US Army and was a member of Bear Branch Baptist Church.
Freddie, affectionately called Frog, was a devoted husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His love for Jesus was evident in the way he loved others especially his family. In March he sat with his son on life support never taking a break. He was also passionate about his job driving an 18-wheeler and passed this interest along with a strong work ethic on to his children. Freddie never met a stranger and was kind to all he met. Cherished memories of Freddie will remain with family and friends always.
Graveside funeral service will be 3:00 pm Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Faircloth Cemetery with the Rev. Chris Wroten officiating.
Casketbearers Dale Brennan, Pedro Merritt, Paul Hewitt, Paul Farrow, Bobby Goodson, David James, Ryan Brown and Jermey Brown.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00pm Saturday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel.
