Obituary

Milton Pittman, 80, of Rose Hill, left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Saturday, January 29, 2022 after a lengthy illness.

He was born on October 9, 1941, in Duplin County, North Carolina.  He was one of 10 children born to Edrict and Ella Carter Pittman.  Mr. Pittman was predeceased by his daughter, Diane Pittman; his grandson, Alex Matthews, and nine siblings.

Surviving is his best friend and loving wife of 49 years, Lavonne Boggess Pittman of the home; his daughters, Michelle Coombs and husband, Roger of Wallace; Dawn Noelle Pittman of Garden City, South Carolina, Darlene Corder of Ohio and Jean Volk and husband, James of Jacksonville, Florida; his "special" son, Adam Kornegay of Rose Hill; grandchildren, Dennis Matthew, Jr., Jessica Stephens, Kelly Nazworth, Dalton Teachey, Mason Teachey, Tiffany Teachey and Ayden Suits; great grandchildren, Elaina White, Emma White, Ella White, Ariel Atkinson, Oaklyn Teachey, Samantha Teachey, Paisley Teachey, Cayden Johnson, Deliah Johnson, Tabitha Stallings, Jason O'Brien, William Stephens, Brentley Stephens, Ryleigh Stephens, Anna Matthews and Aubree Nazworth; step grandchildren, Madelyn Coombs and Robert Coombs; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved Milton dearly.

Milton was a devoted husband and caring father and grandfather.  He enjoyed the simplest things in life, but his greatest joy was family, especially his grandchildren.  They were the apple of his eyes.  Milton enjoyed being outside in God's beautiful nature mowing grass, fishing, and pulling the grandchildren around the yard with his lawn mower and trailer.  With his outgoing personality and jolly spirit, he would always make you laugh.  Never meeting a stranger, Milton could talk to anyone and knew almost everyone in Duplin County. He was also affectionately known as "Collard Head" by some of his family members.  Milton is surely going to be missed but treasured memories of him will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at First Baptist Church in Wallace.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be sent to Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, PO Box 339, Wallace, NC  28466.
