Milton Raymond "Ray" Walton, Jr., age 75, of Castle Hayne and formerly of the Riley's Creek Community died Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at New Hanover Medical Center.
He was born November 19, 1932 in Washington, NC, the son of the late Milton R. and Lena Taylor Walton. He was the fourth generation of Waltons that enriched Pender County's history.
Mr. Walton served his country honorably in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. For many years Ray practiced land surveying at Walton & Walton Surveying with his father. Ray also worked as a shift supervisor at Occidental Chemical Company in Castle Hayne.
Ray was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, brother and friend who was well respected by all who knew him. He loved not only his family, but his cats that he treasured.
Surviving are his wife of almost 55 years, Charlotte Beal Walton of the home; daughter, Sheri Walton Parrish of Castle Hayne; sons, James Taylor Walton (Suzanne) and Raymond Mark Walton (Rosella), all of Rocky Point; grandchildren, Christopher Parrish, Mallory Walton, Peyton Tew-Walton, and Madison Walton; and sister, Janice W. Rooks of Savannah, Ga.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.
A graveside funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday at Riley's Creek Memorial Cemetery with The Rev. Melvin Hall officiating.
Casketbearers were James Howell, Barnett Welsh, Ray Lanier, Christopher Parrish, Jason Wells and Forrest Walton.
