Mohammed Salim, Sr. 67, of Burgaw passed peacefully at home Thursday, April 6, 2023 surrounded with love by his family.

He was born April 10, 1955 in Port of Spain,Trinidad, the son of Murtiza Hosein and Lailoon Hosein. In addition to his parents Moe was preceded in death by three siblings.

Mohammed is survived by his wife, RaeLeigh Salim; children, Mohammed Salim, Jr., Miki Williams (Calvin), Timothy Schwarz (Mandy), Lillah Harris (Kendell), and Elijah Salim (Stephanie); eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother, Kazim Murtiza; sisters, Haniffar Hosein and Ameena Mohammed; many extended family members, all who loved Mohammed. Not to be forgotten is Kia, his beloved puppy companion.

He was an outstanding chef and the proud owner of the famous Mighty Moe restaurant. He was a spiritual man and a faithful Jehovah's Witness.

Moe enjoyed fishing, classic western movies, and making home videos. Most important in Moe's life was family. He loved family gatherings where he usually did the cooking. Moe was a Family oriented man and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 126 Copeland Road, Beaufort, NC 28516. Following the service a gathering of family and friends where a meal will be provided at Bryant Hall, 3505 Arendall Street, Morehead City, NC 28557.
