Obituary

Morrell Orvesta DeVane, Sr., 84, of Wallace passed peacefully from his earthly life on February 2, 2013 at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation in Wallace.

He was born July 1, 1928 in Sampson County, the son of the late Willie Council DeVane and Mary Florence Corbett DeVane. Morrell joins his son, Morrell O. "Buddy" DeVane, Jr.; two brothers and one sister that have gone on before him.

Morrell is survived by his children, Remolyer Weal (Raymond) of Chesilhurst, NJ, Jerusha A. Patterson of Lanham, MD, Dianne D. Clack of Snellville, GA, Mary D. Emmanuel of Clinton, Arizona DeVane (Annette) of Elgin, SC, Donald L. DeVane (Sarah) of Durham; and William M. DeVane (Jennifer) of Upper Marlboro, MD; former spouse, Mary B. DeVane of Wallace; two brothers; five sisters; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchild, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Morrell was a member of Snow Hill Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Snow Hill Baptist Church, Ivanhoe, with Morrell's son and grandsons providing the music. The service will be conducted by Snow Hill Baptist Church members with Bishop Arizona DeVane giving his dad's eulogy. Burial will follow in Duplin Memorial Gardens. Casketbearers will be William M. DeVane, Donald L. DeVane, Stephen Clack, David Patterson, Nikie DeVane and Aaron DeVane.

The family will receive friends at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the church until hour of the service.
