Obituary

Morris Horrell, 84, of Wallace left this earthly life on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 for his eternal rest with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Morris was born March 28, 1928 in Pender County, the son of the late Raymond Morris Horrell, Sr. and Ollie Sue Carter Horrell. He was predeceased by his first wife of 48 years and the mother of his children, Lucille Hardison Horrell and his half-sister, Geneva Horrell.

Morris faithfully attended Willard Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church as long as his health permitted.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 13 years, Elizabeth "Skeet" Futreal Horrell; son, Larry Horrell and wife, Aleta and daughter, Shelby H. Murray and husband, Jeff, all of Wallace; grandchildren, Christy Horrell (Josh), Stephanie Edwards, Heather Murray Smith (Bryan) and Jeffrey Murray (Kayla); great grandchildren, John Godbold, Katlyn Brown, Morgan and Cyler Barfield, Lexie and Peyton Edwards, Haylee and Rylan Smith, Rowan and Gracie Murray; half-brother, Donnie Horrell (Alberta) of Eutawville, SC and half-sister, Geraldine Horrell; step children, J.B. King (Debbie) of Fayetteville, Wilbert "Bill" King (Terri) of Burgaw and Gary King (Tracy) of Teachey and Special Caregivers, Tammy Maynor and Krystal Gurganious; also Nurse Susan Boyd with Continuum HomeCare and Hospice and also his faithful canine companion, "Baby".

Morris was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and brother. He found great joy in the simplest of things, but his greatest joy was his family. As long as his health permitted, Morris enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, cutting wood, growing vegetables in his famous garden with the giant collards or just riding around the farm with "Baby". Being a hard worker and great provider for his family, Morris was always there for each of them. A man of great integrity, he lived his life humbly before God and his fellowman. He will surely be missed, but many treasured memories of Morris will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
