Obituary

Ronald "Ronnie" DeLoach, 79, of Atkinson passed from his earthly life to his eternal rest on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born November 13, 1933, in Claxton, GA and was the son of the late Raymond and Annie Colson DeLoach. Also lovingly remembered is his wife, Shizue "Terri" DeLoach, who preceded Ronnie in death.

Ronnie is survived by his sisters, Lugenia Dorriety of Oxford, GA, Geneva DeLoach of Altamonte Springs, FL, Kaydeen Haire of Newnan, GA, Betty Morris of Dothan, AL, and Martha Saia of Bunnell, FL; brother, Vernon DeLoach of Dexter, GA, Billy DeLoach of Claxton, GA, twin brother, Donnie DeLoach and Ben DeLoach both of Pulaski, GA; many nieces and nephews and extended family, all who loved Ronnie.

Ronald spent 26 dedicated years in the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era and retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. After completing his military career, he worked and retired from Carolina Power & Light Company at the Southport Nuclear Plant.

Ronnie loved his family and his numerous friends. For the past many years, he enjoyed living on Black River in a community of wonderful neighbors. After Ronnie's two retirements, building and giving away bird houses became his passion in life. His bird houses are scattered over Pender County and probably throughout the world. Another pleasure in life was meeting at Hardees in Burgaw for morning coffee, a biscuit and two strawberry jellies. His radiant smile, easy going personality and willingness to help others were his trademark. Ronnie leaves a legacy of the importance of God, family and country. The fondest of memories of Ronnie remain in our hearts.

Graveside funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013 Greenlawn Memorial Park in Wilmington with the Rev. Alton Watkins officiating. Military honors will be accorded by US Army Honor Guard.
