Myra Barnhill Flynn, 83, of Atkinson passed peacefully from her earthly life on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center.

She was born December 18, 1929 in Bladen County, the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Squires Barnhill. She was preceded in death by her son, Glenn Flynn; three brothers and two sisters.

Myra is survived by her husband of 63 years, George Dallas Flynn, Jr.; sons, George D. Flynn III (Shelia) of Atkinson and Gary Flynn (Jewel) of Elizabethtown; daughter, Glenda Flynn Norris of Beaufort, SC; grandchildren, Regan Norris (Aimee), Joshua Flynn (Nadine), Elyssia Flynn, Leslie Norris, and Kenzie Flynn; great grandchildren, River Norris, Lola Flynn, and Ava Flynn; many nieces and nephews who dearly loved Myra.

For many years Myra was active in the Atkinson Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Myra was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She enjoyed the simple things in life, but her greatest joy was her Christian faith and family, especially her grandchildren. She was a lady filled with grace and a beautiful smile that brought warmth and beauty wherever she went. Her home was filled with kindness and she always had room for one more at their table where she had prepared a delicious meal. Prior to her illness Myra was always vigilant and seeing to the needs of family and friends, these characteristics defined her very essence. Myra leaves a legacy of hope, love and courage.
