Myrtle Raynor
Rawls
April 2, 1915 – March 24, 2012
Myrtle Raynor Rawls, age 96, of Willard left this earthly life for her eternal home on Saturday, March 24, 2012 from Quinn Hospice Care Center, Kenansville.
She was born April 2, 1915 in Pender County; the daughter of the late James Newton and Annie Civil Lanier Raynor. She is also predeceased by her husband, Marvin Rawls; sisters, Arlene R. James, Gussie R. Brinson, Vallie Raynor, Ruby R. Newborn and Viola R. Dixon; and brothers, Oscar Raynor and Emil Raynor.
She was an active member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church as long as her health permitted.
Surviving are her devoted children, Leon K. Rawls (Judy) and Linda R. Gurganious (Mike), all of Willard; grandchildren, Becky Rawls of Wallace, Don Rawls (Christy) of Watha, Carmen Wells (Stewart) of Rose Hill, Brent Gurganious (Beth) of Newton Grove and David Gurganious (Carrie) of Willard; great grandchildren, Joshua Henderson (fiancée, Maggie Corbett), Shane Hanchey, Rooks Wells, Jake Rawls, Miranda Wells, Mark Rawls, Will Gurganious, Grey Gurganious and Austin Rivenbark.
Myrtle loved her children and her grandchildren above everything else in life. Being a diligent homemaker and great cook, she loved for family and friends to stop by to visit and eat from her table. Myrtle enjoyed flowers, working in her yard and painting and was always willing to share her talents with others. She was blessed with a love for the Lord and a faith that took her through an extended illness. Myrtle will surely be missed, but cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
