Nancy Jo Mathis, age 56, of Kenansville left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Wednesday, December 13, 2017.

She was born on December 15, 1960 in Duplin County and was the daughter of the late Ivey Johnson and Alice Dean Carter Mathis. She was also predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Mathis.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her sons, Gary Mathis and Jonathan Kornegay both of Warsaw; grandchildren, Janay Furlow, Kimberly Mathis, Sabeian Mathis, Jalen Wallace Mathis, Ashton Mathis and Kristian Hall; sisters, Elizabeth Spann of Beulaville, Jean Blanton and husband Clint of Rose Hill and Betty Harris and husband Mel of Warsaw; brothers, Ivey Mathis and wife Pat of Magnolia and Tommy Mathis of Warsaw; numerous extended family and friends that loved Nancy dearly.

Nancy Jo was a loving mother and caring grandmother and sister. She enjoyed cooking, listening to the 70's music and porcelain dolls. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she enjoyed the times they spent together. Nancy Jo also loved Pepsi, the Panthers and Mark Martin the race car driver. Nancy will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm pm on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home with the Reverend Jerry Sheffield officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2pm on Sunday, one hour prior the funeral service at the funeral home.

Burial will follow the service at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Johnny Davis, Michael Lee, Howard Powell, Marty Royal, Michael Brinkley and Gavin Brinkley.
