Obituary

NANCY ROBERTSON NUNZI

On January 24, 2013 Nancy Joan (nee Blount) Robertson Nunzi passed from this earthly realm from complications of congestive heart failure at the age of 80. Born in Burlington, N.C. Nancy lived in several towns in N.C. during her youth and later in several cities across the U.S. and in Germany while married to Kenneth R. Robertson during his military career. Later in life she resided on Oak Island, N.C. at her dream home before moving to Wilmington, N.C. two years ago.

The eldest of four children, Nancy was recognized early for her sharp intellect, her creative and artistic abilities, and her unwavering devotion to caring for others. She was Valedictorian of her class at Parkton (N.C.) High School and though she planned to go to college, she met and married. This marriage resulted in five children and travel which broadened her perspective of life and different cultures. She loved living in Germany during three tours. She enjoyed reading novels about life in past centuries and was a huge fan of Nora Roberts novels.

Throughout her life, no matter where she lived Nancy easily made friends and was the consummate "good neighbor" as she was always concerned about the welfare of others. During her years at Oak Island she was well-known up and down the island as "Miss Nancy" and her dogs, Zack and Zoe. She was also well known for her incredible knitting skills and many people including children are the recipients of her Afghans, quilts, baby blankets, and "Lamb Chop" puppets.

Of all her accomplishments and joys in life Nancy was most proud of having raised five successful children. When once asked if she could relive her life she replied, "I did what I wanted to do - be a good mother and raise five children and would not change that."

Preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Robertson Faircloth, and brother, William H. Blount, Jr., Nancy is survived by her four sons, Ken (Deb), Dave (Brenda), Gary (Becky), and Steve (Lonnie). Also surviving is her brother, Robert Blount and sister, Ruth Baugh and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Having dedicated her life to family and friends, her loved ones extend our love for all the support she was given over the past few years of her lingering illness. Her family is grateful for the wonderful support and love provided by the staff at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter in Wilmington, N.C. The family requests memorial contributions be sent to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, N.C. 28401.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Oakdale Cemetery, 15th Street, Wilmington, N.C. Following the service, there will be a Celebration of Life at Steve's home.
