Nancy Jean Powell, 69, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, July 27, 2015 in Wilmington, NC.

She was born on May 19, 1946 in Wilmington, NC to Cleo and Myrtle Pridgen. She is preceded in death by her husband James Powell Sr., her parents, her sister Barbara Johnston and brother in law Sherwood Hewett.

She is survived by her children, Lorie and husband Douglas Barnhill, James Powell Jr. (Buddy) and wife April, William Franklin Davis, and Bryan Ray Powell and her grandchildren Emily Jean Barnhill, Dora Michelle Rose and husband Ryan, Lorie Marie Powell, Caylee Gabrielle Powell, Bryan Ray Powell Jr., Charity Powell, Jordan McCloud and great grandson Nicholas Alan Pruitt. Nancy was also survived by her sister Linda Hewett and brothers Jimmy Pridgen, Joe Pridgen and wife Agnes. Nancy is also survived by her cousins Herbert and Marilyn Grice as well as many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday August 2nd at 2:30 at Center Baptist Church, 7954 Harrells Highway in Garland NC 28441. There will also be a memorial service on August 15th at 4:00 pm at Sunset Park Baptist Church, 231 Central Blvd Wilmington NC 28401
