Nancy Ellen Snipes, age 69, of Burgaw went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born July 24, 1939 in West Prestonsburg, Kentucky and was the daughter of the late James and Mary Jane Horn Harmon. She was also preceded in death by her son, James Edward "JJ" Snipes; sister, Maureen Scutchfield and brother, Earl Harmon.

Surviving are her daughter, Debra Hornbeck and her husband, Paul "Randy" of Burgaw; son, Michael "Mike" Snipes, Sr. and wife, Rebecca, of Burgaw; grandchildren, Crystal Hornbeck, Corey Hornbeck, Shelby Snipes, Michael Snipes, Jr. and wife, Laurie, James Snipes, Jr., and Thomas Snipes; great grandchildren, Damien Snipes and Anakien; sister, Doris Stafford of Warsaw, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

Nancy was a devoted and faithful member of Burgaw Holiness Church where she was former choir director, involved with the food ministry and wrote the weekly church news for the newspaper. Oh, how Nancy loved her family and brought much joy and sunshine into the lives of so many. She will be remembered for her steadfast faith in Jesus Christ which was a shining example to all who knew and loved her.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. Ted Mercer officiating.

Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.

Casketbearers were Michael Snipes, Sr., Rebecca Snipes, Michael Snipes, Jr., Eddie Brinson, Corey Hornbeck, Randy Hornbeck, and Jerry Schwefel.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Burgaw.
