Obituary

Nathan Carl Rivenbark, Sr., 83, of Willard passed away peacefully April 13, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Pender County on January 26, 1938 to James Anthony and Ola Wells Rivenbark. In addition to his parents, Nathan is preceded in death by his brothers; Anthony 'Doc" Rivenbark, Paul Rivenbark, Sr., Hooper "Hoopie" Rivenbark, James "Punkin" Rivenbark, and George Rivenbark.

Nathan is survived by his loving wife of  38 years, Hazel Rivenbark; daughters, Beverly Somberg, Melinda Marshburn (Grady); son, Nathan Carl Rivenbark, Jr. (Juanita); step-daughter, Tina Scott; granddaughter, Ashley Hayes (Harold); step grandchildren, Acacia, Brooke, Tasha, and Trace; great grandchildren, Alex, Layla, Nathan, and Henry; step great grandchildren, Harley, Tori, Storme, Nakiaya, Drew, and Bennett; sisters, Jenette Baucom and Julia Rivenbark (Morris); special friends, Ray Rivenbark, Carl Hardison, and Larry Grady; and many extended family and friends.

Nathan was a beloved husband, daddy, granddaddy, great grandaddy, brother, and uncle. He was a dedicated farmer all his working life. Nathan strived to be trustworthy, dependable, and  a loyal friend to many folks.  He enjoyed hunting with his "Hunting Family" and being outdoors in God's bountiful world of nature.  Nathan was a man dear to our hearts and his passing leaves an empty place in our family circle.

Casket will be open for viewing at Riverview Memorial Park cemetery at 2:00 p.m. until hour of the service.

A graveside service will be 3:00 pm on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Riverview Memorial Park with Reverend Baris Lanier officiating. The family will visit with friends at the cemetery following the service.

Casketbearers will be Frankie Bowden, Jimmie Bowden, Lance Lanier, Ty Harts, Stuart Baucom, and Glen Anderson. Honorary bearer will be Ray Rivenbark.
