Obituary

Nellie Pleasant Davis, 85, of Clinton and formerly of Wallace left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Tuesday, June 28, 2016.

She was born on July 28, 1931 in Johnson County; the daughter of the late Riley Chester and Brookie Stephenson Pleasant. She was also predeceased by her husband, Gerald Lynwood Davis; her sons, Gerald "Jerry" L. Davis, Jr. and Richard "Ricky" Lee Davis; her daughter, Diana Caison Turlington; sisters, Barbara Ann Dortsch and May Peacock; brother, Bill Pleasant and son-in-law, Allen Bass.

Nellie was employed with JP Stevens in Wallace for many years.

Mrs. Davis is survived by her devoted daughter, Catherine D. Bass of Clinton; grandchildren, Felicia Beaman, Amy Smith, Shane Davis, Sherry Piedra, Bailey Davis and Jenna Leigh Davis; great grandchildren, Taylor Jerosimich, Ellee Beaman, Ryder Smith, Jesseu Piedra and Isabelle Piedra; brother, Charles Creech (Elaine) of Cary.

Nellie was a loving mother and caring grandmother and sister. She found great joy in the simplest of things, but her greatest joy was family. When her health permitted, Nellie was a diligent homemaker and great cook who filled her home with love and welcomed all who entered. With an outgoing personality and love for others, Nellie a good neighbor and friend and was loved by all who knew her. Nellie will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park, Watha.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00pm on Friday, one hour prior the funeral service at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Wallace and other times at the home of Brant and Felicia Beaman.
