Nellie Grey Moore Spearman, 81, of Teachey left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Friday, March 18, 2022.

She was born on December 24, 1940, in Duplin County and was the daughter of the late Aaron and Nellie Louzinn Simmons Moore.  Nellie was also preceded in death by her loving husband, James Thomas Spearman, daughter, Jamie Spearman, great grandson, Ayden Cavenaugh; sister, Lucille Bryant and brother, John A. "Pete" Moore.

Nellie was a long-time member of the Wallace Church of God.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Sharon Collins and husband, Bob of Battleboro and Thomas Spearman and wife, Connie of Teachey; grandchildren, Seth Cavenaugh (Brittney), Meghan Cavenaugh, Thomas Spearman (Breanna), Ashton Spearman and Corey Cavenaugh; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Yarborough of Virginia, Carolyn Clark of Alabama and Katherine Moore of Teachey; brother, Sam Lanier of Willard; forever son-in-law, Steve Cavenaugh of Wallace; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved Nellie dearly.

Nellie was a loving mother and caring grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed the simple things in life, but her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren.  She was a kind and caring person who would go out of her way to help others. Nellie was an avid gardener and enjoyed being outside with her flowers. She loved thrift stores and antique shops.  Nellie was a friend to all, a strong yet gentle presence who looked for and encouraged the best in everyone.  She loved unconditionally and was a shoulder upon whom many found comfort and support. Most of all, Nellie had a deep, relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and demonstrated her faith in the way she lived her life. Nellie will surely be missed but cherished memories of her will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Wallace Church of God, Bay Road, Teachey with Pastor Todd Narron officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11:00a.m. til 12 Noon on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow the funeral service in Riverview Memorial Park, Watha.

Casketbearers will be Ronnie Casteen, Charles Kirby, Bret Likens, Jamie Taylor, Greg Yarborough and Ken Yarborough.
