Nettie Marie Rivenbark Wells, age 79, of Watha died Friday, February 8, 2008 at Pender Memorial Hospital.
She was born January 26, 1929 in Pender County, the daughter of the late J. C. and Marie Wells Rivenbark. She was also predeceased by her husband, Casper Wells in 1981; sister, Polly Eubanks and brother, James Carroll Rivenbark.
Mrs. Wells was a member of Cora's Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. For a number of years Nettie proudly worked as a teacher's assistant in the Pender County School System.
Nettie was not only a beloved wife and wonderful mother, grandmother and sister, but a generous friend to all who knew her. She brought a great deal of grace, dignity, charm and sunshine into this world. Her joyful spirit and beautiful smile will not be forgotten by those who knew and loved her. Nettie's family is grateful to God for her life and for your every kindness, friendship and prayers.
Surviving are her loving family: daughters and sons-in-law, Iris Victoria "Vickie" W. and Michael Williams of Wilmington, Edith Annette W. and Steve Register of Wilmington and Grace Darlene W. and Joe Granato of Bogart, GA; grandchildren, John Andrew Williams and wife, Sharon, Casper Shay Collins, and Joseph Devin Granato; great grandchildren, John Williams and Ashlyn Williams; sister, Bernice James of Kinston; brother, W. D. Rivenbark of Watha; many nieces and nephews and special friend, Patsy Malpass.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2008 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. Baris Lanier and The Reverend W. E. Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
Casketbearers will be Ervin Wells, Dalton Wells, Dale Hardison, Russell Wells, Dean Lanning and Ronnie Casteen.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the 2nd Floor Skilled Nursing staff of Pender Memorial Hospital for the excellent, tender care that they gave to Nettie.
Memorial gifts may be given to Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter, 2222 S. 17th St., Wilmington, NC 28401.
