Nora Jones Rivenbark, 92, of Burgaw died Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at her home surrounded with love by her family.

She was born July 5, 1929 in Pender County, NC, one of five children born to Issac Hassell Jones and Flossie Meadows Jones. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William A. Rivenbark; grandson, Rodney F. Jones; and son-in-law, Luby F. Jones.

Nora is survived by her daughter, Nora R. Jones; granddaughter, Tonia J. Heath (Tony); grandson, Jeremy T. Jones (Jessica); great grandchildren, Brittany Heath-Thompson (Steven), Kelly Heath, Tony C. Heath, Jr., Jordan Eason, Jennifer Jones, and Kyleigh Eason; great great grandchildren, Jayden, Cambree, Chase, Collin, Tristan, and Kinley; sister-in-law, Sherrie Jones; and many other extended family and friends, all who dearly loved Nora.

Nora said if the church door was open one should be there and she always was. She was a faithful member of Forest Hills Baptist Church where she wore many hats and served as secretary (her second career) for many years. Her first career was with Carlisle Poultry and Egg Company where she retired as bookkeeper after working many years.

Nora loved her family and instilled Christian values in them as she was a living example of how to live on this earth. Her grandchildren, greats and great greats brought so much joy to her and she to them. She leaves a legacy of the importance of Christian values, family, love, giving, sharing, all of which were a part of her earthly life.

A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 26, 2021 at Lanier-Meadows Cemetery, Maple Hill with the Rev. Phillip Shepard officiating.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the graveside service.
