Obituary

Norma Ruth Sholar Murray Butler Bordeaux, 87, of Rocky Point and formerly of Wallace passed from this earthly life to her eternal rest on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from Huntington Health Care, Burgaw.

She was born July 26, 1927 in Pender County; the daughter of the late Walter Newell and Annie Caroline Hollingsworth Sholar. She was predeceased by her first husband and father of her children, Henry Floyd Murray in 1980. She later married Lorin Butler who passed in 1991. She was also predeceased by great granddaughter, Alyssa; her siblings, Elma Rudd, Evelyn Kimey, James Sholar, Newell Sholar, Vernon Sholar and Elbert Sholar.

Norma was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in the Switzerland Temple of the Church of LDS from 1984 to 1985.

Surviving is her devoted husband of 18 years, Adolphus Bordeaux; daughter, Carolyn Murray Johnson (Jack) of Salt Lake City, Utah; son, Steve Murray of Wilmington; grandchildren, Chris Johnson (Michelle), Tonya (Derrick) Arnold, Tamara (Rob) Robinson, Alycia Reed (Jeff), Bradley Johnson (Susana), Amanda Murray and Steve Murray, Jr.; 16 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; sister, Wilma Gray of New Bern; special niece, Marie Lanier (Roy) of Chinquapin; step-daughter, Louise Watkins (Pearlie) of Wilmington; three step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of Norma's life will be held at 6:30pm on Friday, May 29, 2015 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 9:00pm at the funeral home.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery, Wallace.

Casketbearers will be Shon Greene, Christopher Johnson, Bradley Johnson, Rob Robinson, Spencer Robinson and Tyler Robinson.

Norma was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed reading and serving others. Being a woman of uncommon character and faith, beauty and grace, she was an instrument of God's love on this earth.
Norma was a friend to all, a strong yet gentle and loving presence to all who were blessed to know her. She will surely be missed but cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved Norma.
