Norman Paul Thurlow, age 46, of Burgaw died Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter.
He was born January 28, 1963 in Putnam, Connecticut. Norman attended Hoggard High School and Cape Fear Community College where he served as President of the Student Body. He served his country honorably in the US Marine Corps.
Norman was the husband of Sonja Thurlow; beloved son of Barbara A. Raynor and her husband, Ray, of Burgaw and Harry C. Thurlow and his wife, Virginia, of Harrells; brother of Cheryl Jarmon (Jerry) of Currie and Michael Thurlow (Joy) of Burgaw; step-brother of Pam Donahue (Pat) of Rocky Point, Renee Leich of Castle Hayne, Melissa Denault of Berlin, Maryland and Richard Denault (Sharon) of Surf City; uncle of Daniel and Amanda Brown, Aaron Jarmon, Joanna, Hannah and Elijah Thurlow, Christopher and Jenny Walters, Crystal Walters and Cory Donahue; and great uncle of five.
Through Norman's terminal illness he had the opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as his Savior which brought peace to his soul and to his family. He shared this blessing with family and friends on a daily basis as he said goodbye to his earthly life. Norman will be remembered for his love of life, his humorous personality and his devotion to his caring family.
A celebration of Norman's Life will be at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2009 at New Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 109 S. Wright St., Burgaw, with The Rev. Steve Mattis and The Rev. Dean Walker officiating. All are invited to a covered dish supper and fellowship at the church following the service.
