Norwood Lee Chadwick, age 84, of Burgaw passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at NC State Veterans Nursing Home in Fayetteville.

He was born March 11, 1926 in Kenansville and was the son of the late Joseph Council and Laura Register Chadwick. He was preceded in death by his sons, Guy Nelson Chadwick and Norwood Len Chadwick.

Surviving are his wife, Ruby Davis Chadwick; daughters, Louise C. Blake of Winterville and Shirley C. Brothers (Tim) of Raleigh; grandchildren, Byron Blake, Alexis Blake, Christy Gehring (Chris) and Nicole Chadwick; great grandchildren, Nora Blake, Matthew Blake and Ella Gehring; and sister, Pearl Rooks (Lorace) of Rocky Point.

Mr. Chadwick served his country honorably in the US Army during WW II. He was a self-employed auto mechanic, a Pender County farmer and his favorite hobby was building race cars which he enjoyed racing.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Kings Chapel Church followed by a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. at the church. Mr. James Yount and Mr. Ron Jarrett will officiate at the service.
