Nurnie Louise Davis, 81, of Chinquapin left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Thursday, April 30, 2015.
She was born on May 12, 1933 in Duplin County and was the daughter of the late James Alex and Liner Lanier Mobley. She was also predeceased by her husband, Jessie Richard Davis; her son, Jessie "Jack" Ray Davis; her daughter, Mary Davis and brother, Garland "Jake" Mobley.
Mrs. Davis was a dedicated member of Sharon Baptist Church where she faithfully attended as long as her health permitted.
She is survived by her loving children, Elizabeth Herring of Kinston, Margaret Lanier (C.J.) of Jacksonville and James O. "Buddy" Davis of Chinquapin; grandchildren, James Henry Hill, Jr, Joseph Allen Hill, James Allen Davis, Michael Dwayne Davis, Starsky Ray Davis, Daniel Justin Davis and Cecilia Jo Mosley; 12 great grandchildren; brothers, James Mobley (Mable) of Spring Lake, Linwood Mobley of Lincoln, NE;half brothers, John Mobley and Joe Mobley, both of Beulaville; half sister, Kim Griffin of Beulaville; very special family friends, Steve and Susan Brinkley of Chinquapin and her loving church family at Sharon Baptist Church.
Nurnie was a devoted mother and caring grandmother and sister who loved her family dearly. Being a very talented lady, she enjoyed making lap quilts for rest homes and later she enjoyed making bed quilts for her children and grandchildren. She worked long hours and very diligently to make sure her children and grandchildren had one of her homemade quilts. Nurnie loved to laugh and to make others laugh. She will surely be missed, but treasured memories will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved Nurnie.
Funeral service will be held at 6:00pm on Monday, May 4, 2015 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with Pastor Patrick Trobaugh officiating.
Burial will be later in Maready Cemetery, Chinquapin.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Wallace.
