Obituary

Oathel B. "O.B." Hall, 81, of Wilmington and formerly of Rocky Point died Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Cypress Pointe Rehabilitation and Health Care Centre in Wilmington.

He was born December 15, 1926 in Montgomery County and was the son of the late Lonnie Ernest and Myrtle Mae Nunnery Hall.

Surviving are his daughter, Angela H. Hinson of Burgaw and sister, Lucy H. Ray of Raleigh.

Mr. Hall served his country honorably in the US Navy during WW II and was a member of Biscoe Baptist Church. He was appointed to the NC Board of Conservation and Development by the Governor of North Carolina. He was a manager and/or on-air personality and disc jockey for a number of radio stations in North Carolina including the Burgaw Radio Station. Mr. Hall was an active, respected businessman in Pender County including being owner of The Chalet Restaurant and Ward's Corner Convenience Store. Having a love of music, O. B. sang bass in a gospel quartet for several years. For recreation he enjoyed playing golf with his buddies and drinking coffee at Paul's Place.

O. B. had a wonderful sense of humor and the gift to make friends easily. He will be remembered for his warm smile and sunny personality which endeared him to his many friends. Cherished memories will always remain in our hearts.


The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Burgaw.

A graveside funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2008 in Biscoe Cemetery, Biscoe NC.
