Obituary

Olivia Jordan Lyon, age 88, passed away peacefully with her two daughters by her side on Monday, July 21, 2008 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter and now Olivia is with her Lord and Savior.

She was born May 7, 1920 in Pender County, the daughter of the late George Fred and Maybelle Batson Jordan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Bryant Hanchey in 1958 and later she married Royce Lyon who died in 1997. She was also predeceased by her brother, George Jordan.

Surviving are her daughters, Ann Hanchey and Sue H. Tysinger and her husband, Andy, all of Wilmington; brothers, Harry Jordan (Louise) of Burgaw and Paul Jordan (Fay) of Erwin; sister, Dorothy Barnes of Colerain and several nieces and nephews.

Olivia was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she served the Lord and her church in many capacities. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, sister and aunt who will be greatly missed. Olivia was known for her beautiful rose gardens.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Jordan's Chapel United Methodist Church in the original church sanctuary with The Rev. William Hill Pearsall and The Rev. Alice Quarles officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Gene Jordan, Graham Jordan, Alan Jordan, Tony Briales, Andy Tysinger, Jr., and Andy Tysinger, Sr.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.
