Omie Baysden Mills, 93, of Burgaw passed gently to her heavenly rest on Saturday, January 18, 2014 Golden Care Living Center in Tarboro..

She was born January 27, 1920 in Richlands, the daughter of the late Dennis and Etta Carolyn Mills Baysden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy Frances Savage; son, Gary Lynn Mills; and granddaughters, Glenda L. Hoffman and Teresa B. Foran.

Omie is survived by her husband, Manley Ed Mills; daughters, Carolyn S. Lawrence (Glenn) and Lynn S. Hester (Jesse); step-son, Ron Mills (Molly); and grandchildren, Louanne L. Perry (Glennis) and Tim S. Bivens.

Omie was a member of Moores Creek Baptist Church.

Omie was a lady filled with grace, compassion and love not only for her family, but for her many friends. Even to the end of her earthly days Omie had a joyful sense of humor and caring, bringing sunshine into the lives of everyone her life touched. Having a strong Christian faith, her life was lived according to her beliefs. She will be remembered by her beautiful smile, warm heart and gentle spirit.

A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 in Moores Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with The Rev. Philip Eakins officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the graveside service.
