Patricia Leimone Cowan, 65, of Burgaw, NC, passed away on Wednesday September 5, 2012 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on March 24, 1947 in Burgaw, NC to Dorothy Fedoronko Leimone and the late Mario Leimone. She graduated Burgaw High School in 1965 and went on to attend the Women's College School of Business The University of North Carolina at Greensboro before marrying her childhood sweetheart, Wayne Cowan.

Together for nearly 52 years and married for 44 years, Pat and Wayne had 3 daughters of whom she was most proud: Michelle, Melissa and Jennifer. And most recently, she received the other great joy of her life-- her grandson Hudson.

Pat lived in Burgaw, NC and stayed at home to raise her children before going to work at Bank of America and then at Pender Memorial Hospital, where she retired in 2011. She was a devoted, long-time member of Burgaw Presbyterian Church where over the years she taught Sunday School, Bible School and served on various committees.

Pat enjoyed taking care of her family each and every day, putting their needs and wants above her own. She was an excellent cook who always loved preparing large meals. It wasn't a Sunday without a meal large enough to feed an army plus two dogs, her Golden Retriever, Sally, and her granddog, Bella. She also enjoyed tending to her roses. Pat was most happy spending time with her beloved grandson. She loved taking Hudson to the beach, watching movies with him, and letting him eat and drink the things he wasn't allowed to have at home. Hudson always knew if there was something he wanted all he had to do was ask his "Mema" and if he did not have it before he went home, it would be waiting for him next time.

Surviving in addition to her devoted husband, Wayne, and her cherished children, Michelle Cowan Huffman (Jason), Melissa Ann Cowan, Jennifer Lynn Cowan and her grandson Hudson Huffman, is her mother, Dorothy Leimone of Burgaw, her sister Judy Williams (Whrens) of Burgaw and nieces.

A memorial service will be held 11:00am, Saturday, September 8th, 2012 at Burgaw Presbyterian Church to honor the life of Pat Cowan. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
